Punat Krk

Istria and Kvarner - Punat Krk

Marina Punat, island Krk

Punat, located on the east coast of the more than 3 km long and 2 km wide Punat valley, is considered one of Krk's more recent villages. However, this belief is connected to the fact that studies and more detailed reports regarding this area only began around a hundred years ago. Earlier it was part of the city of Krk, and the area of Vrbnik almost reached the village of Punat. Marina Punat, island Krk - 11 pears with 800 sea berths and 400 places ashore. Water and electrical connections, wireless internet connection. Supervision 24 hours a day. Marina is monitored by web cameras. Awarded by a Blue flag consecutively since 1998. Standard ISO 9001:2000 in the area of nautical tourism services.

Punat Krk

Marina Krk Punat - once a well-known shipyard for building wooden ships and a center of a powerful steamship association - is today known in Europe for one of the largest and best-equipped tourist marinas on the eastern coast of the Adriatic. Tourist activities commenced in Punat already in the mid-19th century, related to the Franciscan monastery on Kosljun, visited by many excursionists, among which Empress Karolina, the widow of the Austrian emperor Ferdinand I, then Maximilian Ferdinand, the younger brother of the Austrian emperor Franz Joseph, the Romanian king Karol I, etc.

Since 1984 in May of each year the traditional regatta "Croatia cup" is taking place at Punat- In the year 2001 it will be the 17th regatta, while the 4th Austrian cup, a regatta under the sponsorship of Yacht Club Austria, will be, as usual, organized in the days prior to the "Croatia Cup". In April 2000 the BUREAU VERITAS QUALITY INTERNATIONAL - BVQI awarded the Certificate of approval to Marina Punat, which certifies that the Quality Management System of the service supplier has been assessed and found to be in accordance with the requirements of the quality standards ISO 9002:1994 - The scope of supply: Nautical tourism services including pleasure boats and yachts repairs.

About Punat and island Krk

Punat is the nautical and tourist center of the island of Krk. Located in the bay of Punat, and offering natural protection from the harshness of the open sea, it is a paradise for surfers and sailors, with the largest and well-equipped marina in this part of the Adriatic. The architecture of the stone houses and narrow streets make Punat a typical coastal village and it is surrounded by fertile olive groves, vines and a lovely swimming area. The olive oil from Punat is of very high quality, confirmed by the tourist-gastronomic event Days of Olives, where visitors can enjoy the top quality tastes of pristine nature.

The golden or green Krk is an island and yet it is not one. Its idyllic nature and quite far from the daily routine make it an island, but considering the transport connection, it practically is not one.

A little gem sits in the heart of the bay of Punat– the wonderful little island of Košljun, with a Franciscan monastery and a church with a library, ethnographic museum, and collection of sacral arts. The rich tourist offer, which includes excellent accommodation and a whole series of cultural, entertainment and sports and recreational facilities, places Punat at the top of the tourist offer.
