Lagoon 450 Charter | Catamaran Charter

In 2011 the Lagoon catamarans introduced their new model of catamarans – a Lagoon 450. After the success the Lagoon designers had with the older version – Lagoon 440 – it is obvious that they had to think long and hard to create a worthy successor. Very soon, this new model became a bestseller among catamarans, and until today, it is still one of the most popular catamarans in a charter.

Elegance, comfort, safety, and performance – the Lagoon 450 has it all. With 4 cabin layout and a lot of open space, it has proven to be one of the most comfortable, but also one of the most affordable catamarans in the charter on the Croatian market. Whether you decide to enjoy sailing with your family or your friends, this catamaran will meet your expectations.

EXTERIOR:

Her predecessor, the very popular Lagoon 440 model, first introduced a helm station that is raised in relation to the cockpit. This area, also called the flybridge area, is positioned on top of the catamaran and it offers a spectacular view of the sea. Because of the visibility it offers, this area is intended for the skipper, so he can maneuver the boat easily and safely. It provides access to all power and sail systems, but it is also a nice area for relaxation as it has enough space so others can also share the flybridge with the captain and enjoy the great view of the Adriatic waves and islands around.

In only a couple of years, the company Lagoon sold hundreds of Lagoon 440 models. Of course, the attractiveness of the flybridge was so high that the designers had no second thoughts about it when they decided to design the newer and bigger model – Lagoon 450. Except for the more open space on the flybridge of a Lagoon 450, the most noticeable and well-accepted change between these two models is the design of the flybridge and its communication with the cockpit. The cockpit and flybridge area on Lagoon 450 are still two distinct areas, but there are passages to the flybridge both to the starboard and port, so the flybridge is better approachable from the cockpit. What is even more important is that this approach to the flybridge contributes to the higher level of safety on board, because you do not have to go out on the deck to reach the flybridge. You can simply stroll up directly from the cockpit.

One of the main reasons why the catamarans are so popular in a charter is, figuratively speaking, unlimited open space on the deck. Except for the flybridge, the main area where you can socialize and relax is a cockpit. On Lagoon 450 the cockpit has been reorganized, so it is bigger than on Lagoon 440. This area offers a possibility of daydreaming in the shade while sailing, but also a nice place to gather and have your meals. Nice U-shaped seats surround the table and the cockpit is easily reachable from the kitchen, so you can set the table outside and have meals comfortably, whether you are in motion or docked in the marina. Also, if you are a fan of evening cocktail parties, the cockpit of Lagoon 450 will suit your needs without a doubt.

Except for the cockpit, there is also a nice area to hang out on the bow of the Lagoon 450. Although the seats may not be as comfortable as the seats in the cockpit, they offer a lot of storage space and can still accommodate a group of people. But one of the most thrilling features of Lagoon catamarans is very cool nets between the hulls of the boat, intended for sunbathing. You can stretch out on the nets and enjoy the calm sky above you or hypnotic waves beneath you.

Lagoon 450 F and S versions

Although the flybridge became a signature of a Lagoon 450 model, the Lagoon design diverged, and soon there were two different versions of the same model – Lagoon 450 F and Lagoon 450 S. The F in Lagoon 450 F stands for “flybridge”, which is the version with helm area on top of the catamaran. Another version, S, or “sportop”, is different from the F version because it does not have a full flybridge, although the helm station is still raised in relation to the cockpit, so we can say that the S version has “semi flybridge”. While the skipper station is more or less isolated in the F version, this layout offers better communication between the helm station and the cockpit and it brings about the enjoyment of socializing.

In this version, the boom of the mainsail is significantly lowered (70cm), but the sail area is still the same as in the Flybridge version. With the lower boom, access to the boom and mainsail are much easier. Also, because of the lower boom, the mast height is lowered, which brings the center of gravity down lower. This means better stability for the vessel and it made her less prone to leaning.

INTERIOR:

During the summer season on board, of course, everyone wants to spend time outdoors as much as possible, enjoying the sun and beautiful views all around. Therefore, the cockpit and lounge area on the bow is the most important areas of any catamaran. However, the saloon on Lagoon 450 is also a very pleasant space, remarkably airy and bright. The sliding doors that separate the exterior cockpit from the saloon open the interior of a Lagoon 450, creating one large open and bright space. In fact, when the doors are opened, there is virtually no separation between the interior saloon and outdoor space. The Italian interior specialists Nauta Yachts designed the ultra-contemporary accommodations and furnishings on a Lagoon 450, making it highly functional, but also elegant. The overall design maximizes the space and adds many nice details: indirect light, clever catches for lockers and drawers, a hideaway cabinet for a TV, a washing machine…

By the sliding doors, there is a U-shaped galley, with a sliding window behind the sink. Facing forward there is a dining area, with the L-shaped settee, to starboard and the navigation station to port. All furniture is covered in light wood (oak and walnut), which makes the whole space even warmer and bright, giving it a stunning, luxurious touch.

Below is the hull there is a space for cabins with queen-size island beds, full bathrooms and showers, and large storage spaces. Compared to the older version, Lagoon 440, a Lagoon 450 model has slightly bigger hulls, which adds space to the cabins. The Lagoon 450 comes in two versions: the 3-cabin version (also called the owner version) and the 4-cabin version, which is more popular in a charter, as it can accommodate more people.

In the 3-cabin layout, the main suite, which occupies the starboard hull completely, is essentially a private apartment, isolated from the rest of the yacht, so its occupant can enjoy privacy and comfort. Except for the huge aft cabin, there is also a small office with lots of storage space and a large en suite head with a separate shower compartment.

On the other hand, the starboard hull is separated into two cabins in the version with 4 cabins, so there is one cabin with a private bathroom on the aft and another on the bow. In this 4-cabin layout, the port side is completely symmetrical, with another two cabins with private heads. All cabins are very bright and ventilated by several portholes and hatches.

The cabins in the hulls of the boat, whether you decide to book a 3-cabin version or 4-cabin version are all intended for the guests, so this boat can accommodate 6 to 8 people comfortably, depending on the version you choose. However, the Lagoon 450 catamarans usually have two additional smaller cabins in the front, intended for the crew, which is excellent if you are not licensed sailors and you want to hire a skipper, or a skipper and a hostess both. These cabins are accessible directly from the deck.

ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT:

The size of this boat and her volume provide larger fuel and water tanks, but also offer an opportunity of installing extra equipment, for example, air-condition and generator. It is important to know that not every model in the charter has the air condition and generator, but they are very common. The air condition system makes hot weather easier to stand and having the generator means that you do not have to spend every night in a marina in order to have electricity on board.
